What is a Cryo Facial?
Our CryoLift+Glow Cryotherapy face treatment, also known as cryofacial or cryofacial therapy, is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using cold temperatures to treat and rejuvenate the skin on the face. The term “cryotherapy” is derived from the Greek words “cryo” meaning cold and “therapy” meaning treatment.
How is the cryotherapy face treatment carried out?
Firstly, we use the CoolLifting device that emits a steady stream of cold CO2 to the face. The temperature can drop to around -100 to -160 degrees Celsius (-148 to -256 degrees Fahrenheit).
The cold CO2 is applied in a controlled and targeted manner to the face, focusing on areas that need treatment and is typically directed in a sweeping motion, covering the entire face.
Secondly, we use Cryoglobes which enhance skin wellness by boosting oxygen and nutrient delivery.
During a CryoGlobe session, the blood vessels and capillaries experience vasoconstriction (narrowing) followed by vasodilation (expansion). This process assists in breaking down and eliminating toxins stored within the skin layers.
The extreme cold activates the production of collagen in the deeper skin layers, resulting in a taut and firm complexion. With repeated applications, clients have reported a smoother, more even-toned skin texture.
This part of the treatment usually lasts for a few minutes depending on the treatment area and the individual’s tolerance to cold.
What are the benefits of Cryotherapy?
Skin Tightening and Firming: Cold temperatures cause the blood vessels in the skin to constrict, leading to a tightening effect. This can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving the skin a firmer and more youthful look.
Reduced Puffiness and Inflammation: Cryotherapy can reduce inflammation and puffiness by constricting blood vessels and decreasing blood flow to the area. This can be especially beneficial for individuals with facial swelling or under-eye bags.
Improved Circulation: The cold temperature of cryotherapy promotes better blood circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells. Improved circulation can contribute to a healthier complexion and a more radiant glow.
Stimulation of Collagen Production: Cold temperatures may stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that supports skin elasticity and structure. Increased collagen production can lead to smoother, plumper skin over time.
Soothing and Refreshing Sensation: Many clients find cryofacials invigorating and refreshing due to the cooling effect on the skin. It can provide a pleasant sensation and leave the skin feeling revitalised.
Reduction of Redness and Rosacea Symptoms: The cold temperature may help reduce redness and calm skin conditions like rosacea, which often involves inflammation and flushing of the skin.
Improved Product Absorption: Cold exposure can temporarily tighten the pores, allowing for better absorption of skincare products applied during or after the cryofacial. This can enhance the effectiveness of serums, moisturisers, or other treatments.
Pain Relief: Cryotherapy has analgesic (pain-relieving) effects, and applying cold to sore or achy areas of the face can help alleviate discomfort.
The frequency of cryotherapy face treatments may vary based on your needs and cosmetic goals.Â
Your treatment plan can include weekly sessions, or as an add-on to other treatments
Is there any downtime?
After the cryotherapy session, any residual cold sensation typically subsides quickly. You can immediately resume their regular activities, including applying makeup or skincare products.
Does the treatment include anything else?
Before the treatment, the face is thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, dirt, or oil. We then perform a full facial workout massage, often referred to as facial yoga. This involves performing specific movements and exercises to tone and strengthen the muscles in the face and neck. The goal is to enhance facial muscle tone, improve circulation, and potentially promote a more youthful appearance.Â
How is the facial workout massage conducted?
The facial exercise is performed after cleansing and before the CoolLift Cryotherapy procedure.
We first start by warming up the facial muscles by gently massaging your face using upward and outward strokes with the fingertips. This helps stimulate blood circulation and relax the facial muscles, preparing them for a number of facial exercises. The facial workout is always tailored to individual need targeting different muscle groups and includes various massage techniques, including:
Effleurage: Gentle, gliding strokes to warm up the skin and prepare it for deeper massage.
Petrissage: Kneading and lifting motions to release tension in facial muscles.
Tapotement: Light tapping or patting to stimulate circulation and invigorate the skin.
Circular motions: Circular movements to promote lymphatic drainage and improve blood flow.
What are the benefits of facial massage?
A facial massage offers a range of potential benefits, both for your skin and overall well-being.
Improved Circulation: Facial massage helps stimulate blood flow and lymphatic circulation in the skin. This increased circulation can result in a brighter complexion and a healthy glow.
Reduced Muscle Tension and Relaxation: Massaging the facial muscles helps relieve tension, especially in areas prone to stress and tightness. This can help you relax and potentially reduce headaches or migraines caused by muscle tension.
Enhanced Skin Elasticity: Massaging the skin can stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for skin elasticity and firmness. This can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Lymphatic Drainage: Facial massage can promote lymphatic drainage, aiding in the removal of toxins and excess fluid from the face. This may reduce puffiness and improve the overall contour of the face.
Stress Reduction: Just like any form of massage, facial massage can promote relaxation and stress reduction. The gentle strokes and pressure can help calm the mind and body.
Sinus Relief: Facial massage techniques can help alleviate sinus congestion and pressure. It may help with sinus-related issues and provide relief during sinusitis or allergies.
Better Jaw Function: Massaging the jaw and facial muscles can improve jaw mobility, reduce jaw pain, and alleviate symptoms of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.
Natural Facelift and Contouring: Regular facial massage may contribute to a more toned and contoured appearance by lifting and firming the facial muscles and skin.
Enhanced Mood and Well-Being: Like other forms of massage, facial massage can induce a sense of relaxation and promote a positive mood, leading to an overall sense of well-being.
